Firebirds Track Club

Accessibility Statement.

Firebirds Track Club is committed to making our website, programs, information, and digital experiences accessible to athletes, families, volunteers, supporters, and community members of all abilities.

Last Updated August 9, 2026

Firebirds Track Club ("Firebirds," "we," "us," or "our") believes that participation, information, and opportunity should be accessible to everyone.

We are committed to providing a website experience that can be used by people with a wide range of abilities, disabilities, technologies, devices, and ways of interacting with digital content.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. As the Firebirds website, programs, and digital services continue to evolve, we will continue working to identify and address barriers that may affect access.

Section 01

Our Commitment

Firebirds is committed to providing meaningful access to information about our programs, registration opportunities, athlete development, events, competition, volunteering, coaching, sponsorship, donations, and other services made available through our website.

We seek to provide a digital experience that does not unnecessarily exclude users because of visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, neurological, or other disabilities.

Our accessibility efforts are intended to support athletes, parents and guardians, coaches, volunteers, donors, supporters, and other members of the Firebirds community.

Section 02

Accessibility Standard

Firebirds is working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA .

WCAG provides internationally recognized guidance for improving accessibility for people with disabilities, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, voice input, captions, and other assistive technologies.

We do not currently represent that every page or third-party service on the Firebirds website has been independently certified as fully conforming to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The website is continuing to be developed, reviewed, tested, and improved.

Section 03

Our Approach to Accessibility

Accessibility is considered as part of the design, development, content, and maintenance of the Firebirds website.

Our approach includes working to:

  • use clear and consistent page structures and heading hierarchies;
  • provide meaningful text alternatives for informative images where appropriate;
  • maintain sufficient contrast between text, controls, and their backgrounds;
  • ensure that information is not communicated through color alone;
  • support navigation and interaction using a keyboard;
  • provide visible focus indicators for interactive elements;
  • associate form fields with meaningful labels and instructions;
  • provide understandable error messages and form feedback;
  • create responsive layouts that remain usable across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices;
  • use readable text sizing and spacing;
  • avoid unnecessary motion or provide accommodations for users who prefer reduced motion;
  • make links and buttons understandable from their context;
  • use semantic HTML and accessible interface patterns where practicable; and
  • evaluate new content and features for accessibility as the website grows.
Section 04

Accessibility Features

The Firebirds website is being developed with accessibility considerations across several areas.

Keyboard Access

Interactive website features are being designed to support users who navigate without a mouse.

Screen Readers

Semantic structure, labels, alternative text, and descriptive controls are used where appropriate.

Visual Access

We consider contrast, text readability, focus states, responsive sizing, and information conveyed by color.

Responsive Design

Pages are designed to adapt across desktop, tablet, and mobile screen sizes without requiring a single fixed presentation.

Forms

Registration, inquiry, coaching, volunteer, sponsorship, and other forms are being designed with labels, instructions, and understandable controls.

Motion Preferences

Where practical, website motion and animation are reduced for users whose devices indicate a preference for reduced motion.

Section 05

Third-Party Content & Services

Some parts of the Firebirds website may link to, display, or rely on technology provided by third parties.

These may include services for registration, payments, donations, embedded video or media, maps, forms, social media, event information, competition results, governing bodies, timing services, or other external resources.

Firebirds does not control the accessibility of independently operated third-party websites or services.

We nevertheless encourage the vendors and organizations with which we work to provide accessible digital experiences and will consider accessibility when selecting or evaluating services where practicable.

If a third-party service creates an accessibility barrier, please contact Firebirds. We will make reasonable efforts to help you access the information or complete the applicable activity through an alternative method when possible.

Section 06

Known & Potential Limitations

The Firebirds website contains a significant amount of historical, photographic, athletic, and competition content, and portions of the website may rely on external services.

As the website continues to be developed, certain content may not yet provide the same level of accessibility as newer content.

Potential areas that may require continued accessibility review include:

  • historical photographs or galleries that may require additional alternative text;
  • older documents, PDFs, or downloadable materials;
  • videos that may require captions, transcripts, or audio descriptions;
  • third-party registration, donation, payment, event, or competition systems;
  • embedded social-media or external media content; and
  • newly introduced website features that have not yet completed accessibility review.

Identifying a limitation in this statement does not mean that every item in that category is inaccessible. It means these are areas Firebirds recognizes may require ongoing review.

Section 07

Alternative Access

If you are unable to access information, complete a form, register for a program, make a donation, submit an inquiry, or otherwise use a feature of the Firebirds website because of an accessibility barrier, please contact us.

When reasonably possible, Firebirds will work with you to provide the information or service in an alternative accessible format or through another method.

Requesting accessibility assistance will not affect an athlete's eligibility for Firebirds programs or an individual's ability to participate in Firebirds activities.

Section 08

Accessibility Feedback & Assistance

Accessibility works best when users tell us about barriers they encounter.

If you experience difficulty using the Firebirds website, encounter inaccessible content, need information in another format, or have a suggestion for improving accessibility, please contact us.

When reporting an accessibility issue, it is helpful to include:

  • the webpage or feature where you experienced the issue;
  • a brief description of the problem;
  • the type of device or browser you were using, if known;
  • the assistive technology you were using, if applicable; and
  • the best way for Firebirds to contact you regarding the request.

Website accessibility is not a one-time project.

Firebirds intends to continue reviewing the accessibility of our website as content, technology, programs, vendors, and user needs change.

Accessibility improvements may include technical changes, design updates, content revisions, improved media alternatives, form improvements, testing with accessibility tools, and responses to feedback from users.

We may update this Accessibility Statement as our website and accessibility practices evolve. When we make updates, the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
